I do not seek perfection, but rather the visual and symbolic expressiveness of the figures. Mistakes and amendments are an integral part of the creative process — each mark is a question, and the painting is the answer. Ana Jacinto Nunes
The Host's Note

Why it was here

In a House defined by connection, Ana's work is a masterclass in the complexity of human touch. She explores the raw, unfiltered space between figures — the comfort, the tension, the unspoken weight of an embrace.

I was drawn to the duality in her background — living between Lisbon and Macau — which brings a unique depth to her stroke. Her work reminds us that to connect is rarely simple. It is a messy, beautiful negotiation of presence.

The Artist

About Ana Jacinto Nunes

Ana Jacinto Nunes (b. 1973, Lisbon) is a multidisciplinary artist whose career spans painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics. Having lived between Portugal and Macau for many years, her work reflects a fusion of cultures — blending the expressive freedom of Western painting with the disciplined fluidity of Eastern calligraphy.

A graduate of the Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes and Ar.Co in Lisbon, she views drawing as "primordial learning" — the essential foundation of all creation. Her work has been exhibited internationally, from the USA and Germany to Macau and Portugal, and is held in private and public collections including the Fundação Carmona e Costa.
